ACT Muslims Australia (ACTMA) is a not-for-profit social welfare organization serving ACT and surrounds. ACTMA’s goal is to serve mankind purely for the sake of Allah and in accordance with the teaching of His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

ACTMA Youth

ACTMA Youth provide youth services supporting young people who live, work and

play in Canberra and surrounds.

ACTMA Social

& Health

ACTMA Social & Health welfare (ACTMA SH) provides social support services for

the weak and vulnerable in the community.

ACTMA Aged Support

ACTMA Aged Support (ACTMA AS) provide aged support services for seniors,

especially those who are weak, vulnerable and lonely.

ACTMA Funeral Services

ACTMA Funeral Services (ACTMA FS) provide Islamic funeral rituals including

transportation, Ghusl (bathing), shrouding, Janazah Salah (Prayer) and burial.

ACTMA Youth

ACTMA Youth provide youth services supporting young people who live, work and play in Canberra and surrounds.


ACTMA Youth delivers a range of services to engage young people in recreational, spiritual, social-emotional development and connection to the community . ACTMA Youth is determined to create an environment where the young Muslims can connect in an environment that is supportive, faith-filled, and engaging, and develop their minds, body and heart in accordance with their fitrah (human nature).


ACTMA Youth also conducts monthly bushwalking activities that fosters many elements of personal and communal development. It improves physical fitness, it connects people to the land, it provides a structure within which people can cooperate and build friendships, elevates the soul beyond mundane concerns and it links people with their Creator, stimulates scientific curiosity, and is fun.

Key Services

  • Fortnightly informal youth gathering with a strongly social focus
  • Monthly BBQ for building community connections and invitation to youth from new families, including non-Muslims
  • Social sport competitions, homework club, communication skills workshops, etc.
  • Linking up with other youth groups, and work co-operatively with them on larger events such as future camps, and a youth conference
  • Older members of the group take on leadership and mentoring roles for younger members, all under the supervision of the adult leaders and leading pastoral carers.

ACTMA Social & Health welfare (ACTMA SH) provides social support services for the weak and vulnerable in the community. ACTMA SH strongly believes that the ACT Muslim community needs to be resilient and should self heal. ACTMA SH works to improve the quality of life of Muslims in the ACT and surrounds by providing spiritual, educational, social and health services to the target community groups.

Key Services

  • Social solidarity through participation and community involvement in social welfare. Fostering social wellbeing through a range of leisure and community welfare services, events, & activities.
  • Social inclusion through empowerment of those who are socially and economically excluded from the mainstream of society.
  • Organizing social events for Ramadan, Eid Al‐Fitr, and Eid Al‐Adha.
  • Providing services as needed to families and individuals such as financial support, house moves, temporary accommodation, etc.
  • Conflict resolution through informal and formal processes for peaceful solutions to friends and family disputes through facilitating involvement of community elders.
  • Proactively support refugees, new Migrants, and people in need.

ACTMA Aged Support

ACTMA Aged Support (ACTMA AS) provide aged support services for seniors, especially those who are weak, vulnerable and lonely. ACTMA strongly believes that old age needs to be celebrated.


The need to visit the seniors within the Muslim community has arisen because of growing aging population. At the moment there is no proper Aged-Care Centre or Nursing Home that will accommodate seniors, providing them Islamic environment like halal food, salaat facilities and separation of males and females. As a result, most seniors prefer to be left alone at home rather than living in a Non-Muslim Aged-Care Centre or Nursing Home.

Key Services

  • Fortnightly visits at seniors residences or hospitals
  • Participate and support seniors gatherings organized by AMAR
  • Distribution of festive food and home invitations for seniors during Islamic festivals
  • Organize lectures to provide aged care as well as spiritual to seniors

ACTMA Funeral Services

ACTMA Funeral Services (ACTMA FS) provide Islamic funeral rituals including transportation, Ghusl (bathing), shrouding, Janazah Salah (Prayer) and burial. In addition, ACTMA FS provides family support, and other post-burial services.


ACTMA FS facilitates Islamic funeral and burial rites in accordance with the Australian legal requirements and endeavors to provide a cost-effective services for the growing Muslim community of Canberra and its surroundings.


The funeral Janazah Salah (prayer) can be performed at any mosque chosen by the family. All are welcome to attend the Janazah and accompany the deceased to the cemetery.
